floriade, canberra

Floriade is an annual flower and entertainment festival that takes place in Canberra's Commonwealth Park in Australia. The event features large displays of flowering bulbs with coordinated sculptures. The term "Floriade" comes from the Latin word floriat, meaning "to design with flowers."

Every mid-September to mid-October, Floriade attracts tourists across Australia and abroad every year. It is regarded as the most significant regular event for tourism in the Australian Capital Territory.

Floriade is also known as "Australia's Celebration of Spring". Event admission has been free for several years following some controversy concerning an entry charge.
